Summertime

I heart summer! This was quite a year for me. I moved to Heron Heights from Riverglades, which was a fabulous decision. The technology in the classroom is amazing! The kids were challenging, but I'm hoping for a better mix next year. Individually the kids were great, but together, they just didn't gel. That happens sometimes when there are many strong personalities thrown together.

But, that year is over and now I'm enjoying every minute of summer! Well, not so much the numerous doctor appointments I put off until summer, but the rest of my days are great! I've been trolling the thrift stores for clothes for the minis. This caused me a bit of a luxury problem. Most everything in the little minis drawers is beautiful name brand clothes. And much of it is too nice to send her to camp in. However, I paid less for it than I would pay for clothes at Target! So, I have a well dressed princess for pennies :-)

I will admit, I was hesitant to shop at thrift stores at first. After all, some other kid wore it before mine! Then I thought about all the things I have used that someone else has used. Every time you go out to eat, you are sharing silverware. Stay in a hotel? You're using towels and sheets that someone else used before you. So, putting my kids in clothes that someone else wore became not as big of a deal. Plus, if they keep the clothes in good condition, then I can send it along to Monkeyz Kloset, my friend Beth's consignment store. So it's a win win!

Back on the Bandwagon

OK, so I'm trying this again - I started this blog a long, long time ago and never did anything with it. Can't imagine why, with working full-time, having two little ones, trying to keep up with the house, the list goes on and on. But, I'm gonna give it another go.

School has started once again and my class is pretty good so far. This is the first year that my school didn't allow parent requests, so the make-up of the class was crafted by the administration, not what the parents hear on the ball field. It used to be a nightmare, parents would come in and change their requests four and five times, never really knowing any of the teachers. And, the truth is, a good teacher for one kid might not be a good teacher for another. For instance, my friend had a kiddo in her class that was very sensitive and prone to tears for no good reason. He would get upset when OTHER kids were fussed at! This would not be a good kid for my room. But I digress.

The kids all seem to get along, but they are a bit young. Better than the kids who were too grown I had a few years ago. Apparently, they fast-forwarded to sixth grade behavior for some reason. You know the girly crap of if you're friends with her, you can't be friends with me and such. I think I got about 20 of my gray hairs from them. So, I'm looking forward to a better year this year.

On the home-front, we're going to work on tackling the laundry and getting stuff up on eBay tomorrow. I'm not really sure how two little people with little clothes make so much laundry! I feel like every time I get caught up, the hamper is overflowing again. Maybe the clothes are multiplying in there at night - I've thought I've heard strange noises coming from my closet!

Well, time to go wage the battle of the wash. Wish me luck!

Valetine's Day

Well, I was ahead of the game this year in buying Toby's Valentine's Cards, but I love sending cards on the computer too. I found Cupid pickup lines again and LOVE it! Right now they have a free 30 day trial, so the cards I'm sending right now are free, free, free. After that, it's just $13.95 a year, cheaper than buying cards at the store. Plus, since I can never remember to do that in time, the convenience is great! I can sit here, schedule all my cards for the year, fill them out and tell the computer to remember when to send them. How cool is that?!?! For someone with Mommy Brain, it's awesome, lol.

Here's a pic of a cute Valentine's Day card - enjoy :-)

First Blog....

Hi everyone! This is my very first blog on Sara's Random Ramblings. Not exactly sure what I'm going to write about, but figured I'd jump on the bandwagon :-)
